Pointe Amplifica (2011)
Amplifica. The name suggests simplicity: this is indeed the „Sima” („Simple”) amplifier for the 2010’s, but with a tube set and circuitry that made significantly higher power output available. Unlike the „Sima,” the Amplifica’s housing is an open one: number one on the wishlist of „Sima” owners has been the desire to actually see the glorious glow of the tubes inside.
Well, here it is.
The design based on the 6L6 tube set (Tung-Sol 6L6GC STR) puts out 2 x 24 Watts, quite much in tube-amp terms, which allows the amplifier to joyously convey any sort of musical genre with lifelike dynamics and ample bass resolution.
Similarly, the Amplifica can live in a happy partnership with most of the real world’s loudspeakers. Ideally it is paired up with 6 or 8 Ohm speakers with a sensitivity range between 89 – 94 dB, but it is designed to work fine with 4 Ohm speakers as well.
